History/Founder

Our History:

Renaissance Properties Management LLC originated in early 1990s by Paul Medvin. A few years after college graduation, Paul began renovating a handful of his own historic structures in the Old Richmond Historic District.

Paul’s weekend escapes into the creative realm of restoration motivated him to leave the world of finance for a more fulfilling career dedicated to preserving local historic structures and providing charming living spaces for his tenants. Today the company has a high reputation in the real estate businesses in Eastern Indiana - serving clients from all over the country and managing a portfolio of 200 units of living space.

Our Founder:

Paul Medvin is a lover and a keeper of old homes. He appreciates historic properties for their uniqueness, architectural style, and handiwork of earlier generations and their locations. Paul cares deeply about historic properties and their communities and wishes to encourage preservation of our nation's residential and commercial history in Richmond.

Paul inspiration originated from a getaway trip to Charleston (South Carolina) during the late 1980s. Paul wandered through the cobblestone streets where houses pre-dated the American Revolution and gazed through the sun on structures from long ago. In true Charleston style, the majestic homes with lush gardens hid behind the narrow facades that faced the street. He wondered about the secret vistas he couldn’t see. Paul was mesmerized by the city’s charm and sophistication and found it easy to connect with the local residents. There was a sense of community - the way it used to be and still should be. From then on, he has embarked on a journey to bring a piece of Charleston back to Richmond.

A native of Los Angeles, California, Paul relocated to Indiana on a full athletic scholarship three decades ago to attend Indiana University, Bloomington. At Indiana University in Bloomington, Paul earned a B.S. degree in Accounting and Finance with the second major in Business Management. After graduation, Paul worked in many financial capacities working his way up to a Divisional Financial Controller for a 500 Fortune company towards the end of his career in finance. Besides his professional achievements, Paul succeeded in middle distance running. He worked himself up the ranks of the sport to eventually become the two-time State of California Boys High School Mile Run Champion in 1978 and 1979.

He lives in a charming historic home on South 3rd Street in the Olde Richmond District. In his free time, he can be found running down the streets of Richmond, bike riding on the Cardinal Greenways Trail, fishing on Middlefork Reservoir Lake, and traveling to historic cities to admire their beautiful architectural styles.
